ARTS IN THE DARK on the RIVERWALK LANTERN PROCESSIONSWhimsical lantern processions along the celebrated Chicago Riverwalk

Launched in June of 2018, Arts in the Dark on the Riverwalk Lantern Processions were designed to highlight Chicago’s diverse cultural organizations and artists and to draw visitors to this important and newly-developed area of the city. The series gave onlookers a taste of the Arts in the Dark Halloween Parade, which included a lantern brigade as one of the parade contingents.

During 2018 and 2019, the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) provided LUMA8 with grants to support the participation of organizations and artists, including Broadway in Chicago, Rogue Llama, After School Matters, the Adler Planetarium, the John G. Shedd Aquarium, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Chinese Fine Arts Society, Art on theMart, Chicago Full Moon Jam, the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus and more.
